This has been a truly momentous year for British politics. Keir Starmer is the new prime minister and now leads the largest majority government in a quarter of a century. Labour’s win ended 14 years of Conservative rule, with Rishi Sunak’s early election gamble failing to shift the polls after six weeks of general election campaigning. After years of short-termism and instability, Starmer now has a real opportunity to govern differently, domestically and internationally. The Insight Society will, of course, be watching closely.
